20th Anniversary grants encourage brighter futures

At the end of 2020, The Jim Moran Foundation highlighted more than $10 million in special grants through our annual publication, Giving Back, to commemorate two decades of meeting the ever-changing needs in our communities. It’s a milestone that I know my husband would want his foundation to mark by doing even more to embrace and inspire everyone to reach their full potential. With that in mind, I am so happy to share additional 20th Anniversary grants below that commit close to $3 million in funding for our extraordinary nonprofit partners. In the coming months, we look forward to updating you on our remaining anniversary grants.

Baptist Health Foundation ($750,000) – supports the Dragonfly Fund providing mental health care coordination for young adults and their families in Northeast Florida as they transition from childhood to adulthood with a matching challenge grant to sustain the program.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County ($500,000) – provides a lead gift with an additional matching challenge grant for the Broward Bigger Better Stronger Campaign to recruit and support additional mentors for children on the waitlist.

Hispanic Unity of Florida and Urban League of Broward County ($500,000 each) – builds capacity for both organizations to lead critical conversations about racial equity and propose impactful solutions through two comprehensive reports: The State of Black Broward and The State of Hispanic and Immigrant Broward.

Women In Distress of Broward County ($500,000) – provides a matching grant to help the organization best meet the immediate and long-term needs of domestic violence survivors and honor the work of its retiring President and CEO through the Mary Riedel Legacy Fund.

“This gift, which continues Mr. Moran’s legacy of caring for our community and strengthening families, will empower our at-risk youth to achieve their full potential through life-changing mentoring relationships,” said Malena Mendez-Dorn, president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County.
