The Jim Moran Foundation breaks ground for new headquarters in Fort Lauderdale

Jim Moran believed that "the future belongs to those who prepare for it," and his foundation is preparing for its future by creating an innovative and resilient home to continue sharing Jim's life story and heart of generosity. Designed for hurricane resistance and anticipated to achieve LEED Gold certification, the estimated completion date is March 2025.

"With property available adjacent to Holy Cross Hospital’s Jim Moran Heart and Vascular Center – a connection that was so significant in my husband’s life – we knew this would be the right place for The Jim Moran Foundation to build its new headquarters," said Jan Moran, chairman and president of The Jim Moran Foundation. "Jim considered Broward County his home. I know he would be so very happy that his giving back will have a positive impact in this community for generations to come."

During the recent ceremony, representatives from Stiles, HASTINGS Architecture, Broward County and the City of Fort Lauderdale officially broke ground with The Jim Moran Foundation's Board of Directors at the site, 4545 North Federal Highway.

Jan Moran marked this special occasion by speaking to attendees surrounded by meaningful historical images, including the 1995 photo behind her with Jim Moran and Terry Stiles. Additional pictures included Jim's early days of giving in Chicago, one of The Foundation's first grant presentations, Holy Cross Hospital's Moran Challenge announcement and more.

"My father Terry and Jim Moran shared a similar vision, not only in business, but also philanthropy and community building. I am proud that this relationship continues today with this important project and deeply honored that we have the opportunity to be a part of it," said Stiles CEO Ken Stiles.

City of Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis (second from right) provided remarks with City officials joining him in welcoming The Foundation to the neighborhood.

The new building will also house the South Florida Operations of the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship (JMI), a development program for small business owners and nonprofit executives established in 1995 at Florida State University's College of Business. Leaders from JMI, Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship and FSU, including FSU President Richard McCullough (fifth from left), attended and celebrated with The Foundation.
