Summer adventures are here!
The last bell to ring before the school year is over can create excitement for students but, for parents, it can be a time of uncertainty. Finding affordable childcare and camp experiences is often challenging. To help bridge that gap, The Jim Moran Foundation partners with nonprofits in Broward, Palm Beach and Duval counties providing educational, creative and fun programs along with lunch and snacks for children and teens. Thank you to all of the community organizations, including those highlighted below, that are keeping kids active, engaged and safe this summer.
For youth ages 13 to 17 in Broward County, YMCA of South Florida's Career, College & Life Readiness summer program offers hands-on learning and interactive field trips that fuel confidence and prepare them for life beyond the classroom. Along with exploring a wide-range of careers, teens sharpen essential skills, such as resume writing, interview techniques, Zoom etiquette, workplace professionalism, leadership abilities and conflict resolution.
Clarke Schools for Hearing & Speech in Duval County provides Listening and Spoken Language Services (LSL) in its summer program for children ages 2-7 who are deaf or hard of hearing. Children build on their academic and social-emotional progress from the school year through a combination of classroom learning, exciting activities and speech therapy.
Through Digital Vibez's summer camp in the Glades neighborhoods of Palm Beach County, children enjoy a mix of academics, recreation and special field trips while exploring creative arts and technology-based activities.
Third-year camper Theon, age 11, told us what he likes the most: "Field trips like going roller skating and to the trampoline park are things I wouldn’t usually get to do or learn on my own, but summer camp lets me try them."
