Recognizing the affordable housing crisis that so many are facing in our communities, The Jim Moran Foundation continues to proactively partner with nonprofits providing effective, innovative initiatives to intervene and prevent homelessness. Three of our partners are highlighted below with more to be funded throughout the year.
TaskForce Fore Ending Homelessness provides emergency shelter and specialized services for vulnerable seniors in Broward County through its unique Elder Haven & Hope Program. Up to eleven individuals can receive temporary housing at Elder Haven's communal home until permanent housing can be arranged. A second home, scheduled to open next month, will double the organization's capacity and allow TaskForce to serve more than 100 seniors in crisis each year.
"I was nervous and scared. I fought the rain, the bugs," said Robert, a 2023 participant (not pictured). "Then TaskForce came along and placed me in the Elder Haven Program. From there my life has been slowly returning to normal ever since. I have my own apartment now, and it really feels like home. They are heroes, and we need more people like them."

As a nonprofit developer with a mission to increase the inventory of affordable housing in Florida, Ability Housing recently earned Gold Certification from the Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH). Through its equity and best practices, Ability Housing’s programs help residents improve and stabilize their lives.

"The Jim Moran Foundation's investment in our mission has been a game changer for Ability Housing, enabling us to serve more of our neighbors in need of a quality home they can afford."
The Lord's Place transforms lives by providing solutions that break the cycle of homelessness for the most vulnerable and neglected in Palm Beach County. A new multi-generational housing model, Burckle Place III, will soon open to house 21 women with half of the units for those ages 55 and over.
Designed to help women heal from past trauma and regain self-sufficiency, Burckle Campus consists of three housing developments that offer wrap-around services including case management, benefits navigation, peer support and basic needs assistance, as well as access to healthy living activities, counseling, job training and placement, and more.
The Jim Moran Foundation awards grants throughout the year. More than $3.5 million has been funded so far in 2024 with a busy summer ahead.
