Honoring Mary Riedel
I am very happy to announce The Jim Moran Foundation Award recipient for 2016 is Mary Riedel.
The Foundation established this annual award in 2003 to acknowledge those with a history of giving back through active service, personal commitment and inspiring others to make a difference.
Over the years, Mary has positively impacted countless lives and made significant contributions to improving our community -- and in my heart, I know Jim would agree how very deserving she is of this recognition.
My warmest wishes,
2016 Recipient of The Jim Moran Foundation Award
A proud grandma, Mary shares a moment with her grandson.
Surrounded by her family, friends and associates, Mary was recently named the 2016 recipient of The Jim Moran Foundation Award. With this honor, she received a bronze sculpture created by South Florida artist George Gadson. The Foundation also provided an unrestricted $50,000 grant in her name to Women In Distress of Broward County, the nonprofit of Mary's choice.
Since moving to South Florida nearly 30 years ago, Mary dedicated herself to getting to know the community and becoming an integral part of creating opportunities for others to succeed. With a hands-on, caring approach, she is steadfast in her work -- whether hammering nails at a volunteer improvement project or tirelessly fundraising for a capital campaign.
Mary pitches in during renovations at the Women In Distress campus.
Mary has served as President and CEO of Women In Distress -- one of the largest, full-service domestic violence centers in Florida -- since 2008 and was formerly a member of its Board of Directors as well as its Board Chair.
