COOPER CITY, FL -- Learning for Success, Inc. recently received a one-year $12,000 grant from The Jim Moran Foundation for the KIDS AND THE POWER OF WORK (KAPOW) program in Broward County. KAPOW partners business and community volunteers with elementary schools throughout South Florida, introducing students to career opportunities and helping them connect what they are learning to their futures in the workplace.

"Learning for Success is grateful to The Jim Moran Foundation for investing in our organization and the future of our community," said John Casbarro, President of Learning for Success. "This generous grant allows us to reach students from underserved areas in Broward County, exposing them to career opportunities they never thought were possible."

With this funding, Learning for Success will be able to recruit and train volunteers from businesses and organizations to deliver KAPOW's lessons in elementary and middle schools. The lessons help students discover different jobs, what it takes to do them, and the skills necessary to be a success in any job, including communication, teamwork, positive work habits, and decision-making. Students then visit the partners' work sites to experience peoples jobs first-hand. This program has given students a new appreciation for the world of work and given its volunteer teachers a new appreciation for the world of the classroom.

"Through our partnership with Learning for Success, we are helping inspire our next generation of community and business leaders to discover the importance of education and set goals for their futures," said Jan Moran, chairman and president of The Jim Moran Foundation.
