Jim Moran Foundation Supports Seniors with Multi-Year Grant
Sunrise, Fla. -- The Jim Moran Foundation recently awarded a three-year grant totaling $215,968 to the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Broward County to support the nonprofit organization's Senior Intervention and Education Program.
Designed to prevent elder abuse, neglect and exploitation as well as maintain and improve the quality of life for Browards seniors this unique project helps hundreds of residents every year. Those without other resources receive home visits, evaluations, referrals to various resources and community-based services, and supplies including nutritious food, medical equipment, clothing, and non-prescriptive pharmaceuticals.
"My husband, Jim, believed in sharing what he had to take care of others," said Jan Moran, chairman and president, The Jim Moran Foundation. "We are continuing his legacy of compassionate philanthropy through our partnership with the Aging and Disability Resource Center and helping vulnerable seniors remain in their own homes with dignity, self-sufficiency and respect."
Since 2007, The Foundation has funded this successful program, which was recognized last year with the Aging Innovations Award from the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging.
"The key ingredients to the success of this program are The Jim Moran Foundation's funding and the advocacy, performance, and talents of Gail Gannotta, our Licensed Practical Nurse who serves as Senior Intervention and Education Director," said Edith Lederberg, executive director, Aging and Disability Resource Center.
